It sets minimum recommended rates for the use of artwork and certain services that visual artists provide.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Widely recognized as the national standard, rates are all recommendations. That said, many arts councils require that public galleries pay artist\u2019s fees as a condition of their funding. And artists have rights that help them to get paid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example, did you know that when your work is exhibited and it\u2019s not for sale, you are supposed to be paid? Unless you have signed over the copyright, no one can exhibit or copy your work without your permission. This is your negotiating trump card \u2013 you can always walk away if you don\u2019t like the conditions under which you are being asked to work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/carfac-raav.ca\/\">htt<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/carfac-raav.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ps:\/\/carfac-raav.ca\/<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Minimum Rates<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s also important to note that all rates are minimums \u2013 CARFAC encourages artists to ask for more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fee schedule itself is a complicated document with many tables and notes. This is because the work that artists do simply won\u2019t fit into one or two boxes.
